Right next to Engine 55, is this Church - doors wide open, inviting to anyone who wants to attend.
Bite
The smallest of several shops in a wedge shaped building, nestled on a strip of land between Lafayette Street and Mulberry Street. This one is at the "Peak" of the wedge, with each shop getting bigger as you walk down this short block. The store is called Bite.

As I approached these two guys, I could hear them discussing the issues of the day and their customers. The general consensus seemed to be that customers were less trustworthy of their services, than they used to be in the good old days,whenever that was.

This caught my eye as our driver speed through town on the way to the Lower East Side. In one stop, you can store some stuff, buy some clothes and work on your Karma while getting your car repaired.
Engine 55
New York Engine 55, near Chinatown. The plaques commemorate those who gave it all on 9/11 from Engine 55. Engine 55 was among the first responders to reach the World Trade Center after the planes struck the towers. Five men from Engine 55 were lost when the Towers collapsed.

Walking towards Chinatown, the streets were quiet on Sunday morning, but the character of the neighborhood was present in the buildings I passed.
